Hmm, actually, I'm going to go with Great Britain (I've always had a U.S. flag because that's where I live). I'm of about half English descent and it's the country whose history I'm far and away most interested in.

East Timor has always been my favorite country (or, well, since 2002)!

I currently live in Colombia and it's an awesome country regardless.

I've had the Nepal flag since the earthquake to express solidarity.  Nepal is also a great country anyway, with spectacular scenery and a rich culture.

Samoa in honor of my partner Dan. I just changed it. Smiley

Is he Samoan? Is he Mormon?

American Samoan. His grandfather was a Congregationalist minister. Dan has some of his handwritten sermons in the Samoan language - all rather fire and brimstone so Dan says. He describes him when in the pulpit as a rather terrifying figure.  Dan is an atheist.

I thought an American flag on a site dominated by Americans meant we should choose something else...so I picked Austria, a place where I spent a year among the salty Austrian people eating their Wurstsalat and bier and scorning Mozartkugeln like any good Austrian...cuz marzipan is, well...as unappealing a filler for candy as it comes.

And also Almdudler and Traunsee and Noppenair and Vienna...a truly magical place populated by whatever happens when Gimli and Legolas have a baby...  Limli or Gagolas?  Gagolas...did you have to ask? Tongue. Nowhere else have the bars been so 80% guys.  Straight guys sucking hopelessly on cigarettes.  Apparently most ladygagolases power down at 10pm and file into Tender's kellerbar.
