As with the Ben Carson thread, we've known this for a while, and talked about it in the Tea Leaves thread, but I figured it was worth creating a standalone thread on it now:

I don't know what time the announcement will be made, but it looks like she'll be interviewed by Katie Couric on Monday at 2:45pm "about her future plans", so one would presume that the announcement will happen by then:

I have a simple idea for the GOP to help them out.  To be allowed to debate, you have to agree to wait at least 3 full years before being able to sell these:

Sean Hannity has been interviewing each of the Republican candidates when they announce for a full hour on his show. With both Carson and Fiorina announcing and the riots in Baltimore( which he has been milking, in my view disgracefully ) I wonder who he'll have on his show on Monday. I would think it would have to be Carson. But then Huckabee is supposed to announce soon after, so I have to think he'd be given the  next available space. So does Fiorina get the next day, days after her actual announcement, or is she such a long shot he'll never bother to give her an interview?

For the same reasons I'm curious which candidates won't be given an interview with Hannity. He's a pretty big deal with the primary base and can influence the conversation.

If this is an elaborate joke, I don't get it.

2% in the last poll so she's outrunning potential D savior nominees Webb, Chafee, and O'Malley COMBINED

Actually according to RCP, Fiorina is at 1.0%. O'Malley is at 1.6%, Webb at 1.4%, and Chafee at 0.3%. So with their combined powers, they're actually DEMOLISHING her. Wink

Anyway, Fiorina was encouraged to run rather than ignored/dismissed as a joke because the brass wants a woman on the debate stage. It will be interesting to see if she ever gets a moment at flavor of the month though.

If her campaign is anything like her corporate tenure, she will spend absurd amounts of money, lay off half her staff, end up polling worse than when she started, and then claim that she came out a winner in all of this because she was strong enough to make difficult choices, or something.

FOTM? Hardly.  She may get some press because she is a woman on the GOP field, but she has no chance to ever see over 3-4% in the polls and that's being very generous.

Fiorina's ex-husband is not a fan:

Looks like she'll start out the day with an interview on Good Morning America, so that might be when she makes the announcement:

Can anyone name a single reason why she'd do better than Elizabeth Dole?

Establishment conservatives being slightly more interested in having a woman candidate than they were 15 years ago. Other than that, none.

Sarah Palin endorsed her in the 2010 senate race. If Fiorina can get her endorsement again, that'll help in the primary, though it'll be a net negative in the general.

Well, Palin wasn't going to endorse Tom Campbell. There are a lot more right-wingers running for President.

Elizabeth Dole actually led Bush in New Hampshire back in Jan. 1999:

http://edition.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/1999/01/06/president.2000/poll/

and remained in the double digits in most polls for a long time thereafter, though obviously her candidacy eventually crumbled against the Bush juggernaut.

Fiorina's starting from about 1-2% support, so I guess the one thing you can say about her is that it can only get better from here.

That's an insult to Elizabeth Dole.
