Vermont eeks out a victory despite a late comeback attempt from Dartmouth. Kentucky has also passed Louisville in the KY polling. Now we get back to actual sports schools of intrigue in a beautiful region.

I actually like all of these schools and some of them quite a bit.

[1] Arizona State - Despite the student body reputation, I just love all three of their major sports programs. Great basketball rituals. Fun football upsets. Legendary baseball traditions.
[2] Arizona - Love Sean Miller and the basketball team, but seem to 2nd fiddle beyond that.
[3] NAU - Love the uniqueness of the campus location but I'm not sure it's necessarily for me.
[4] New Mexico St - I feel actual pity for their football team but hopefully basketball can be a driving force in the future realignment
[5] New Mexico - Always let me down in basketball. And I can't even pity the football team
--
[6] UTEP - FF's for what they did to Kentucky in '66 but they are still in Texas if just barely.
[7] Grand Canyon - Too new. Horrible city. Started Kentucky's big run this year... Still giving them a chance though.

Went with U of A, although none of them are particularly appealing.

ASU sucks and I don't know why anyone voted for it.

Why is Grand Canyon University even on this list? It's a for-profit joke masquerading as a residential college.

Arizona State is where all the rich drunks at every Texas high school go because they couldn't get into any remotely selective schools and their parents can afford the out-of-state tuition.

Clearly UTEP is the favorite.

1. Their stadium is built into the side of a mountain.

2. Cool quasi-Bhutanese architecture juxtaposed against a desert landscape.

3. Breaking down racial barriers in collegiate athletics.

The U of New Mexico, of course.  Mostly because of Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, but also because I visited the joint for a few hours, poking around the library and science labs, on a trip Albuquerque.  Nice town.

You know what you're talking about, angus.

Oh, and here's what we do the Aggies' mascot each year:
