The tensions between Israeli police and the Ethiopian Jewish community have been going on for a long time; there was a major incident last year, for one. The fascinating aspect here was that the victim in question here was in full army uniform.

It will of course be interesting if this has long term political ramifications, given that unlike in America, Ethiopian Jews in Israel are a historically right-leaning demographic (as can be seen by anyone following the protests).

Israeli police certainly seem to be a lot less fatal with their techniques. This is over a beating, not a seemingly indiscriminate killing.

The protests seem to be staying mostly under control as well. Israel needs to do a hell of a lot better with dealing with their Ethiopian Jewish population.

Wow, didn't realize that the apartheid state discriminated against blacks too. What an awful country.

I encourage the Ethiopian Jews to migrate to Canada; the only true safe haven for Black Jews.
