He would have forced out Huckabee and Thompson, and Romney probably would have withdrawn earlier (possibly after New Hampshire).
Among the early states First probably wins Iowa and South Carolina, and Wyoming, and squeaks through in Florida but McCain probably wins Nevada narrowly, and earns a sizable win in Michigan (especially if Romney is out). Frist probably wins Alabama, Colorado, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and West Virginia (compared to McCain's Arizona, California, Delaware, Illinois, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and New York). Frist wins Kansas Louisiana and Washington to finish February (compared to McCain's wins in Wisconsin, Maryland and Virginia). Frist also wins Texas on and Mississippi in March (Compared to McCain victories in Ohio (very narrow), Rhode Island and Vermont), and exits the race after losing in Pennsylvania on April 22.
