Truly bizarre and outrageous. You may remember leftist president Manuel Zelaya was overthrown for attempting to hold a referendum on doing away with term limits. Now the Supreme Court, responding to a push from the conservative National Party, has done away with them themselves.

The reporting is kind of unclear but that might be because the ruling itself is BS. They appear to have ruled that the part of the constitution which limits terms is itself unconstitutional because it violates human rights. Clearly ridiculous logic. The constitution can not be unconstitutional.

Personally, I am opposed to term limits but it's extremely hypocritical of the Supreme Court to hand down this ruling after rubber stamping the coup against Zelaya, who tried to make the same argument but in a much less ridiculous way.
