As I understood it, it usually refers to Very Serious People types who jerk off to thoughts of bipartisanship/compromise and have an obsessive need to look like Serious, Reasonable Thinkers on every issue.

He personally believes a totalitarian theocracy would be preferable to our democratic form of government, but in the interest of compromise he supports the centrist position that while he won't actively advocate for an overthrow of the U.S. government in favor of a regime where qurans are burned and sodomy laws are in full force, he will vote for one if it is put on the ballot. Thus, moderate hero.

Yeah that isn't exactly accurate. Moderate hero basically means staking out "compromises"....for the sake of compromise, or to make their extreme positions seem more reasonable and sensible. For example, these days a moderate would back gay marriage, but moderate heroes would still jerk off about civil unions.

It's kind of hard to argue Moderate Hero doesn't apply to benconstine when the term was created referring to him.

Wulfric despite his unusual and extreme positions tries constantly to sound pragmatic and sensible rather than embracing it, which is what defines him as a Moderate Hero.
