Question: Your son is turning into a Yellow Avatar
#1
Strongly intervene. No son of mine is going to be a Yellow Avatar!

#2
Gently remind him he won't get a date to the Prom if he wears a V for Vendetta mask

#3
Kick him out of the house. No safety net for him.

#4
Not care. If he wants to be an outcast, that is his prerogative.

#5
Be disappointed but hope he will outgrow that nonsense

Let's say your son has been exhibiting increasingly Libertarian behavior. He stays in his room all day, he has "RON PAUL 2016" stickers plastered around his room and he goes on and on about gold. What do you do?

Hand  him Proudhon's What Is Property, then not give him anything to eat until he reads it.

No, I would be nice. I would gently remind him that even if he is a pothead, he doesn't have to be peer pressured into libertarianism by acquaintances. Remember it might seem 'cool' and 'hip' to 'go yellow' so to speak, but you should always remember the long-term side-effects of libertarianism on mental health.

beat it out of him

no son of mine is growing up to be a libertarian (and no daughter of mine is ever going to date a libertarian either, for that matter)

Option 3 if he's the really bad kind like you described. If he's like Maxwell and wears snazzy bowties, then I would try to convince him out of it.

Option 4 is the most libertarian option, it seems.

This would call for an intervention.

From the child's point of view this would be the worst solution.

Teenage boys are all libertarians.  It's a stage of development, even if many people never progress past it.

Constitutional rights are just a punch line. Manipulating social and economic outcomes to suit public prudence is the new hotness.

You do realize that people can have non-authoritarian views on things without being libertarians (small or large L), right?

I went through a Libertarian phase from about age 18 to 21. I outgrew it but I think some of it rubbed off on my dad because he went from being a fairly generic liberal to holding a rather strange Ron-Paul-meets-Brian-Schweitzer grab bag of political views.

Option 5.  As awful as libertarianism is, I believe that children have a right to their own views and their own consciences, and that consideration trumps.  And most libertarians do outgrow it, eventually.

They'd have to become a Gamergater or something like that for me to actually stage an intervention.

I'd bring him to Atlas and force him to watch nothing but Rachel Maddow until he repents. It worked for me, hopefully it'll work for him as well.
