Looks like the Lib Dems might struggle to field a cricket/football (soccer) team.

That will only be good if Clegg went down with the ship though.

Pretty clear that the Lib Dem votes are going more towards the conservatives than labor at this point.

Towards the Conservatives and UKIP about equally it looks like.

Is there any seat that Labour might take from the Tories anywhere? I guess we will find out soon. They are set for their best shot right about now.

I think that seat was about number 3 of the Tory held Labour targets.

Why the hell were the polls so wrong?

I must admit I was suspecting that this might be 92-redux.

It seems that Lib Dem voters are going for either UKIP/Conservatives but never both when it might prevent the conservatives from beating out Labour. In other words, while UKIP may still get somewhere close to what they got in the polls, their vote is being disproportionally reduced in tight races which strategically boosts conservative totals.

Combine that with the disaster in Scotland, which was not going to be stopped by anything Labour did and will almost exclusively hurt them, and you have a disaster for the red party tonight.

So it's near 2am UK time and the BBC feed has 11 seats in. Is this unusual?

Conservatives outpoll Susan-Anne White by three votes in West Tyrone. 169 to 166.

SDLP majority up in Foyle.

Slightly unusual yes...

Labour's current projected performance isn't good enough and if borne out in the results, Ed Miliband needs to go.

This system must be incredibly annoying for political junkies in the UK...polls don't close until late in the night, no real results at 2 AM.

I guess in the US we can go to bed knowing whats going on (barring a Florida 2000 disaster).

Lagan Valley is a DUP hold over UUP, 48-15 (it was 50-21 in 2010), while Foyle is an SDLP hold over Sinn Fein, 48-32 (it was 45-32 in 2010).

I know this is just a function of what results have come in so far, but I find it really amusing that, on the BBC results page, three Northern Irish parties are currently ahead of the Lib Dems in total vote count.
