The one thing i've noticed in British politics: they don't throw softballs to candidates on TV. They go right after them and push them into awkward answers.

This might be worse than 1970 and 1951.  In 1970 LIB only contested half the seats and in 1951 LIB only contestd 1/6 of the seats.  So we must calibrate the votes shares with that fact.

ITV are saying Alistair Carmichael is to hold Shetland so it won't be an SNP wipeout in Scotland.

Tories have held Carlisle, and Labour have held Great Grimsby.

EDIT: UKIP came third in Grimsby.

Does Orkney count as Scotland? I guess its geographical semantics more than anything.

Random good result for Labour: they've taken Ilford North from the Tories.

From my understanding on the counting of the ballots:
1) The ballots are transferred from the polling station to a central location. An urban location can about 20 minutes for the ballots to arrive. Whereas a remote location it can take hours for the ballots to arrive.

2) A team of ballots counters counts all the ballots for the riding.

3) Once they are finish counting the ballots, the election official announces the results beside the candidates.
4) The winning candidates makes make a brief speech.
5) This process can take hours

Are there any plans to change to the counting process, such they do in Canada. Where the votes are counted at the polling station, and then relay to the return officer and then relay them to the media. You can have riding results with 44 out of 125 polls reporting
