Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Fun fact: One of my friends is a lesbian UKIP supporter. (She's been bullish about their chances. She'll be very disappointed.)

YouGov's "exit poll" says: Con 284, Lab 263, LD 31, SNP 48

I'd...rather believe this for now.

So what you're saying is we still have no ing clue and just have to wait for the results? I'll be damned.

Ironically, if the LD collapse is real, but the Tory total overstated, suddenly Labor is in a much better position. Suddenly the Tories need about 305 seats or so to make it happen, rather than 290, or close to it. If.

I'm not sure it'd even have to be 'way, way' overstated.

Is there any possibility of UKIP voters claiming to have voted for the Tories in the exit poll?

I feel genuinely queasy right now. Center-right 'managerial' 'modernizing' types or whatever the [Inks] along those general lines Cameron is are almost the literal exact opposite of appealing to me.

Political betting markets at

Con 306 .. Lab 252 .. LibDem 26.5 .. SNP 46.5

So the exit polls it not completely believed.

That still sickening, if not even more so because it gives ConDem a larger majority.

Sunderland Central

                       2010          2015

Labour             19,495         21,218
Conservative     12,770         7,105
Liberal Dem.       7,191           791

That's not that bad, but of course swing isn't going to be uniform.

If the election is as bad for labour as bbc predicts do you think Milliband gets canned>

Miliband gets canned if Labour doesn't form government.

Sunderland is a relatively strong area for UKIP - this confirms they're going to do fairly well in votes.

Please please PLEASE let the exit poll have had a shy UKIP effect.

I guess as an American I don't have a dog in this fight but something just seems really off about the guy

Fair enough. That's how I feel about Cameron. (Partly because there's not enough 'weird' about him; he seems like he's come from the planet Camazotz or something.)

I actually really like David Cameron as a person, but then I think Madeleine and I have noticed before that we have opposite opinions on this sort of thing.

To be fair we have opposite opinions on most things.

Would be fascinating to see UKIP become the primary opposition to Labour in the north in the future. I remember reading something about a future Red-UKIP emerging as Labours main challenger in its northern heartland.

My aforementioned lesbian UKIP supporter friend would be a happy camper.
