This seems relevant right now.

I'd prefer Umunna, but it'll probably be Cooper.

I said this in the chat and I'll say it again, but Labour needs to pick a young and attractive lady.

Well, Cooper's out then.

No idea. Burnham and Cooper are the presumptive favourites for various reasons, but there are others who might be interested and not all of their names are even listed here. The new rules make things interesting as well: the tearooms and bars are less important now.

Probably not Umunna.

And you know why (unfortunately)

I can think of a long list of reasons why it won't be him. Which one did you have in mind?

He's not white.

I do not believe we are in the situation in this country, as of this moment, where that won't matter. It shouldn't matter and I would be sick to my stomach if it ever did matter. There is a core of voters, particularly amongst Labour's base (and in fairness, the Tory base too) where such a thing still 'matters' even to people who have a veneer of respectability and would tell you to your face that it didn't matter.

Cooper seems the best of the options.

Well, I would've said Ed Balls before last night...

Honestly, it'll probably be Cooper, but I could see Burnham get in.

I'm an American who is ignorant about most UK politics, but I like Umunna and Cooper from what I've heard. I think whoever can be most articulate in expressing Labour policy (and changing that policy if need be) would be best, considering Miliband's problem seemed to be his awkwardness and inability to articulate a winning message (or changing Labour's policies to give him a winning message).
