for me its Crowley - he's only 53 and has a similar profile to Israel (inoffensive NE congressman) but is in a safe enough district he doesn't have to worry about any impediments to his career.

Becerra. I had to struggle to remember who John Larson is.

Option 3; but it will not be this election cycle, as Dems will only capture seats they gave back in 2014.

There's no way Dems are getting Barrow or McIntyre's seats back.

Van Hollen would've been my first choice, but Becerra now.

Since we aren't getting a Democratic majority leader for a few cycles, I hope we get Ted Cruz as Speaker of the House.

I'd have to go with Becerra.

Becerra lacks the intimidation power and influence Pelosi has over her caucus, but he's still the best choice.

Unfortunately I don't see Democrats winning the House back in the foreseeable future :-(

Pelosi; will serve 1 more term and will step down. 2018 is an off year election, and the Dems want as little damage as possible, and leadership elections will follow, and Xavier will be selected as Minority Leader.

Dems dont want a repeat of 2014, and go down, heading into reapportionment, want to be as close to 200 as possible.

Hoyer as a stopgap (All three are not retiring at the same time)

Then- One of Kyrsten Sinema, Xavier Becerra, Mark Takano, Hakeem Jeffries, Sean Patrick Maloney, Tammy Duckworth, Joaquin Castro, Mark Pocan and Adam Schiff.

John Larson - He has too much of a generic, boring, back-bencher feel to him and I'm pretty sure he's not even in leadership any more, so he's out.

Joe Crowley - As far as I'm concerned, being one of the bosses in the New York City Democratic machine makes Crowley a non-starter.

Xavier Becerra - Becerra seems to have wanted to run for Senate even if he now looks unlikely to actually run due to a lack of support and already ran for L.A. Mayor a while back (and did horribly).  He clearly doesn't want to stay in the House for the rest of his career and while his influence would obviously increase if he became the House Speaker or Minority Leader, the fact that he appears to have so little pull in his own state's Democratic politics makes me wonder whether he is a good enough politician to play at that level.

Steve Israel - Admittedly, he was DCCC Chair in 2014, but even when one accounts for how terrible a year it was, he still did an awful job and his performance does not inspire confidence about how he'd perform if he was the House Caucus' leader.  The DCCC did some pretty dumb things that cycle like throwing away Bill Owens' district without a fight and despite with a few exceptions (there's a Gwen Graham or two every cycle on both sides) candidate recruitment was the worst it has ever been for the House Democrats since at least 2002.  Like Beccera, I'm just not confident he's a skilled enough politician for House leadership.

Other - Hoyer is too spineless and Clyburn is too old.  I'm not a fan of any of these choices or much of the current House leadership, tbh.  Chris Van Hollen would've been my choice before he announced he was running for Senate.  At this point, I'd prefer Pelosi to stay on until some better possibilities make their way into the House Democratic leadership.
