vote!

Personally I voted for him though i've since had voters remorse due to not seeing him really do a whole helluva lot to really reverse the trends of gentrification and giving the city away to the highest bidder and he's also continued with broken windows policing. Don't know if I can fully condemn him as an HP though so i'm torn.

There's really nothing wrong with gentrification. Cities evolve.

The problem, however, is that not enough is being done to create affordable housing.

Overall, though De Blasio is a FF and I'm glad to have voted for him.

His awfulness is balanced out by his incompetence and eagerness to pick fights he can't win.

FF. He hasn't been fantastic, but at least he's been better than the last two mayors.

(Plus, I'm constantly thinking of how much worse it could've been. I'm looking at you, Chrstine Quinn)

That's undeniably true at least.

I haven't noticed any difference between De Blasio and Bloomberg.  And, that's fine because Mike Bloomberg was a terrific mayor.

FF, though he needs to get out of his chauffeured limo and start taking the subway like true man-of-the-people Mike Bloomberg did. Tongue

Sure, except for workers not being able to afford to live where they always have because some stupid yuppie movies into the neighborhood and drives rents through the roof.

If we built enough housing for everyone, then that wouldn't happen.  And you do realize that many of those "yuppies" have to move out where they do because they themselves have been priced out of where they'd otherwise live?

Cities evolve.

The real problem is that not enough is being done to create affordable housing for the working class and working poor. And that despite mayors giving lip service to doing such, they still have yet to actually do it in any meaningful way.

Not as terrible as I had expected... but what has he actually done so far besides clashing with the police? He hasn't gone around wrecking things, no, but there's not I can think of to his credit either. This is perfectly fine for the time being but at some point we will need new policies.

So HP he remains until proven otherwise.

FF. He hasn't been fantastic, but at least he's been better than the last two mayors.

You thought Bloomberg was great... so how does this work out?

Sure, except for workers not being able to afford to live where they always have because some stupid yuppie movies into the neighborhood and drives rents through the roof.

Yes... but new development is that accursed gentrification! Not much one can do, really, short of placing restrictions on where people can live, isn't there?

Does NY have a multitude of undeveloped Brownfield sites, height restrictions and unoccupied second housing? That screws London over as far as prices are concerned.
