What would a VP pick for Hillary be that would be so disastrous as to sink her campaign? almost like her equivalent of Palin

None because the media is so biased. But either of the Castro brothers should be.

I'd say Hickenlooper would fall under more scruntiny.

Schweitzer would help her if anything, if (and that's admittedly a big if) he didn't make any gaffes.

Castro. That's what worries me the most if she picks him. It'll be McCain/Palin all over again.

Why, what's wrong with him?

He doesn't have enough experience. He was mayor of San Antonio but I've read that it's mostly a ceremonial position. He hasn't even won statewide yet. This may sounds ageist but I feel that the older a candidate is, the higher there will be a standard for the vp.

I hadn't even thought of this. You bring up a good point.

It wouldn't be if Schweitzer made a gaffe, it'd be when.

For all the criticism of Palin, it's not clear that she hurt the Republican ticket significantly. McCain lost by seven points during an economic crisis during which his party held the White House. The base, suspicious of McCain, loved her.

I'm not sure there's a left-wing version, given how badly liberals did in 2014. They haven't had anyone young and dynamic elected to statewide office in that cycle.

Potentially controversial running mates would include Julian Castro (never elected to statewide office- potential gaps in knowledge), Terry McAullife (long-time friend of Bill, ultimate Washington insider), Steve Bullock (Governor of small state whose entire career has been inside that state) and Anthony Foxx (see Castro).
