And yes, she is one of those Benns; granddaughter of Tony via the current Viscount Stansgate.

Interesting how neither the Benns or Milibands have continued in the radical family tradition.

Thing is, Benn wasn't that radical for much of his life.

If he had taken a more supportive position then the headlines would have read "Disgraceful Corbyn Sells Out Livelong Principles For Political Gain".

No. I can guarantee you that's one headline he wouldn't have got.

Seems like he's coming around on bombing Syria actually. He doesn't want a "purely military" solution (who does?) and he wants to hear what Obama and the UN say, if they can draw up a "proposal".

The stuff about opposing shoot-to-kill is more problematic. The media should definitely question him more on that. If there's a guy with a machine gun walking down the street shooting people, does he still think security forces should try to detain him non-lethally?

The police don't actually have a shoot-to-kill policy and it is highly questionable whether one would even be legal...

But he does need to get better at dealing with obvious attempts at gotcha journalism. Like within the next... er... shall we say ten seconds? Pretty soon anyway.

Well, not in the more respectable parts of the press (i.e. just about anything that is not The Sun) perhaps.

In other news, Robert Halfon, Minister without Portfolio and Deputy Chairman of the Conservative party has apparently been a very bad boy, and in addition to that appears to have become embroiled in some internal party shenanigans over the issue.

Isn't he the one who is a trade unionist and wants the Tories to be re-named 'The Workers Party'?

The police don't actually have a shoot-to-kill policy and it is highly questionable whether one would even be legal...

Police forces in most countries have a 'shoot-to-disable' policy. The quickest and most effective way to disable someone i.e. put them on the ground so they can't shoot anyone is a centre-mass shot i.e. in the chest or abdomen. With hollow-point ammo (legal for law enforcement but banned in warfare) that typically tends to lead to death, especially when 'regular' officers i.e. non-marksmen get involved, as they will tend to fire multiple shots.

Anyway, I sincerely pray that we don't get a situation like Paris occur in London, but we have to prepare for the possibility.

Getting back on topic Corbyn does still have some serious problems with scoring media own goals.

Well look at the Jean Charles De Menezes murder in 2005 following 7/7, the police literally pinned him to his seat and shot him point blank range (there were claims that the SAS carried out the operation) but yeah I assume our police operate on a shot to kill basis in cases like this.

On JC he's briefed the press, and media that there will be no free vote by Labour MP's, and that they'll oppose any air strikes.

Several tories, including moderates like D'Acona have called for Cameron to skip the commons vote (which he could do) and just join an international coalition. Fun fact with the UK is that we don't need a parliamentary approval for war-ever

Legally they are not supposed to act like that, however.

Fun fact with the UK is that we don't need a parliamentary approval for war-ever

Given that the Constitution operates via precedent it is questionable whether this is still true.

It seems like UN approved action like Kosovo or Afghanistan doesn't tend to be voted on, whilst unilateral stuff is voted on like Syria in 2013

Kosovo wasn't approved by the UN, but Libya (which was voted on) was.

Context: Angry Shadow Cabinet meeting

It was a different story for Shadow International Development Secretary Diane Abbott, who apparently sat writing Christmas cards during the 70-minute clash. “She wasn’t listening to the questions, just writing a big stack of Christmas cards,” said an insider. “It was deeply disrespectful.”

Ken gotta Ken. This time he stands accused of calling a shadcab minister "in need of mental help" as a jab. The minister in question suffers from depression, but Livingstone refuses to apologise. He also has apparently fallen out with Maria Eagle, after being appointed for the Labour defence review. Argh.

Thank goodness Seamus Milne is writing cringe worthy pap for Corbyn. Means we don't get to read it in the Grauniad.

Shouldn't have run in 2012 quite frankly. Oona King would have been better.

They've already said they won't let him back in: he's as hated by the Left as he is by everyone else.  The only person that I've ever met who liked Galloway was also an SWP member, that should demonstrate that he was a bit of an idiot.

Just caught the end of a Newsnight piece on Conservative Future, what on earth happened there?

galloway's tactics against Shah in the election will ensure he is never allowed in the party. I, for one, would immediately leave the party tbh if that was allowed to happen.
