Michael Meacher, the MP for Oldham West and Royton since 1970, has died at the age of 75. He served on the frontbenches for a long time back in the day and was a noted Bennite. He also briefly ran for the leadership in 2007. RIP.

Sad news, RIP.

So the MPs have voted overwhelmingly for the most right-wing Blarites in the PLP elections, whilst the rank and file the most left-wing socialist as leader. Seems to be an odd move if they're supposedly concerned about bitter infighting - and does suggest that the gulf between the membership and Westminster is even worse than believed: most are Blairite true-believers judging from these.

Hmm, maybe jumped the gun there, then. Wouldn't like to mischaracterize the mood of the PLP if this is just a talking shop that the Blairites have set up camp in.

Progress-ite PPC Emily Benn has officially complained about Corbynite Head of Policy for a past tweet endorsing Class War, leading to his suspension. Meanwhile it's surfaced that she tweeted endorsing the WEP in reaction to Corbyn's "male-dominated" (ha) shadow cabinet. It'll be interesting to see if a) Fisher is reinstated or b) similar consequences befall her.

Noticed Jess Philips has done an interview with the Spectator where she gloats about how she told Dianne Abbott to f**k off, and how loads of people have told her they wanted to do the same.

All whilst tweeting Corbyn must take a tougher stand over Labour MPs having voted for airstrikes on Syria and done so against the wishes of many receive an expected amount of backlash for it (that is to say, a couple of tweets). Tomorrows Torygraph has that filed under terrorism.

Do these people get any more transparent?
