He's not going to go to jail, because whatever misdeeds he might been behind were relegated to subordinates who will take the fall.

Even if they could fit him into a jail, nope.

Christie may be corrupt as hell, but he's not an idiot. I doubt he has technically done anything illegal.

Unlike our friend Rick Perry, who probably will be in jail eventually.

No, he's the governor of New Jersey, not Illinois.

I thought there was reluctant bipartisan agreement that Rick Perry's "crimes" were kinda BS?

The case against him is pretty solid and proceeding to a trial, so regardless of "reluctant bipartisan agreement", he's still going to have his day in court, which he really wanted to avoid.

No. But he's not going to be the nominee unless the establishment candidates screw up big time.

From what I've read the case doesn't seem like a legal issue, and more like political payback.

No, but any Presidential ambitions he may still harbor can be dismissed forthwith.

Christie won't go to jail, nor will anyone involved in this scandal be punished THAT severely.  A lot of folks will have a "just following orders" defense and, in the end, this will be seen as a purely political act.

That being said, Bridgegate has ruined Christie's career.  His campaign is going nowhere, and he'll never be elected to anything beyond a safe GOP Congressional district ever again.

It's over for Christie.  That's the real bottom line; it's over for Christie.  He'll serve out his term as Governor, but he'll be a weak incumbent, and he won't get anywhere near the GOP nomination.  Period.

He will just campaign in jail. Already Sabato has a predicted map
As you can see the swing vote of Officer Pruski, and Officer Anderson may make the difference. As Ness and Lockpick O'Leary are staunch non-cigarette tax voters. And of course Gibson O'Leary with his hardcore progressive ideals with his own rattled political dynasty. The Incarcerated Black and Latino vote have already expressed support for the Democrats, it is an uphill battle for Christie in Newgate Prison 2016.
