Tories and Kippers are both claiming that little chats were held before the vote...
Plaid are now saying that the chats they had with both parties was purely to tell them that they were going to nominate Wood for FM and was not about getting the to vote for her...

Given that you don't inform other groups/parties of what you're going to on a critical vote unless you're after some co-operation (even if in a nudge nudge wink wink way) oh dear...

looks to me like Plaid have fallen into a bit of a trap here, the Conservatives and Ukip sensed a chance to humiliate Labour and make Plaid look bad at the same time and grasped iit with both hands

the new Cabinet

Economy and infractusture: Ken Skates
Health, well being and sport: Vaughan Gething
Finance and Local Government: Mark Drakeford
Education: Kristy Williams
Environment and Rural Affairs: Lesley Griffiths
Communities and Children: Carl Sergeant

Leader of the House and Chief Whip: Jane Hutt

Junior minister

Skills and Science: Julie James
Lifelong learning and Welsh language: Alun Davies
Social Services and Public Health: Rebecca Evans

So Kirsty joins in. Skates and Vaughan are promoted. No-one get demoted as there were slots left vacant by Edwina Hurt, Huw Lewis and Janice Gregory's retirements and  Leighton Andrews' defeat.

So how did the Lib Dems get mauled? I can't imagine a lot of Lib-UKIP votes in Wales of all places.

i don't think that they lost that many votes; it was just that they were overtaken by UKIP, and because of that they were suddenly a lot less likely to win regional list seats.  It perhaps shows an issue with the Welsh version of AMS; it possibly could do with a few more proportional seats...
