I thought LSU was going to run away with that one for a bit, but Tulane made a nice push to no avail. Good thing I didn't call it too early.

New Yo'k City time. This is probably going to be a close one with so little name recognition nationally. Columbia and NYU are the probable frontrunners. I'll give NYU an edge considering this forum's demographics, but this could be anyone's game depending on who votes.
Who goes to college in NYC! Meh, not for me. But nearly every single other person in my extended family who went to college has gone to one of these schools.
City Labeling is off Wiki so don't blame me.

[1] St. Francis College - the best area, at least in modern times plus my confirmation name
[2] Stony Brook - I reserve my right to switch my vote to them if they are competitive since I don't give SFC a fighting chance.
[3] LIU-Brooklyn
--
[4] Iona
[5] Columbia - the worst football team in college history. The only Ivy without lacrosse. No hockey tradition like their peers. I sort of like them, but that's a lot of knocks.
[6] Manhattan - Classy move to take the lying coach back. Massive respect points
[7] Hofstra - Downward trending for blocking any chance Stony Brook has at changing conferences. Not cool, dudes. Work together for the Island!
--
[8] Yeshiva - Pretty cool surrounding campus. Best non-sports school.
[9] Baruch - Respect for the dedication to finance as an academic discipline - a dying breed.
[10] NYU - Bunch of intolerant ultra-left-wing statists Tongue But the Village is always nice regardless
--
[11] Wagner
[12] Pace
[13] Fordham
--
[14] Adelphi
[15] St. John's - Most hated Big East rival. STOP TRYING TO MAKE SPORTS IN NYC HAPPEN. THEY'RE NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

I've visited the campus of several of them, but I don't know most of them very well.  I did spend the summer at Columbia working as a visiting post-doctoral fellow in a research lab there, and my Columbia ID card gave me free admission to all sorts of nifty museums, so I voted for Columbia.

You're missing a bunch.  In any case, NYU and Columbia are the only schools of note though.

I noticed that with most of the other threads as well.  We probably all did.  I'm not sure what the criteria for being listed in these polls are, but I had assumed it was somehow legit.

D1 basketball, hockey or lacrosse, top 125 (I think) on us news national, top 15 liberal arts or top 5 regional.
I figured that was lenient enough to get us schools with a national presence for a diverse forum like this. Some notable D2/3 that the forum might like (NWOSU, Millersville, Mt Union, UW-Whitewater...I have a list at home) will be done in a final one before making a bracket.

You gotta include Millersville U.  There are least three posters here who aspire to gain wisdom there at least one who makes a living imparting the wisdom they seek.  Also, MU has probably the most prestigious Meterology program in a 500-mile radius.  Who doesn't like weather maps?

I can include it in Eastern PA if you want to go up against Penn. I'm sure they could pull it off, but the other way is safer by lumping it with D2's. I did say I was open to all requests so I might just do it. If they lose, I can always give them another shot in the second category (or if it's close, they'll be an at-large. We need 68 for a tournament after all. Or it could change to 96 at our current rate. I'll see which field size is most sensible at completion.)

Too bad I didn't get the full experience in my meteorology class though my teacher was pretty cool. It was the only one the department offered. That's a pretty awesome thing to have a strength in!

Motion to include Long Island as part of New York City (Given Albany seems to think we are anyways)
