But wait... Georgia is a Southern state, isn't it? Democrats told me that Southern Republicans are racist (that's why Obama lost GA, after all). So this must be a junk poll or they don't know that he is black!!11!!!

The South is chock full of racism, just check out a Facebook comment section for your local newspaper. It's not cute or clever to suggest otherwise. Ben Carson getting 20% in a poll doesn't factor at all.

The good news for Huckabee is that he leads Carson by 8% among voters older than 65.

That's good for him, because these are the most reliable voters to turn out.

The poll is generally terrible news for Walker, Bush and Paul - and good for Huck/Carson/Rubio and Cruz to some extent.

Yea, he is the token black guy in the race. Just like Cain in 2012. Racist white Republicans flock to the token black candidate to 'prove' how non racist they are and try to win minority support despite their personal revulsion towards minorities and terrible policies.

Well, I mean 30% of Georgia is African American, according to the 2010 Census, so that might explain some of it. And Carson just announced, so the boost isn't entirely surprising.

I would be ecstatic if the GOP nominated a black candidate. I think that a pattern of strong identification with a black throughout the campaign would do wonders for Republicans psychologically in terms of racism. Meanwhile the hardcore racists (a small minority) would be forced to become alienated from both major parties (yay!), whereas black conservatives will be able to vote their views on other issues just like most Americans. All of which would be a dream... Of course it'll never happen.

I find it hilariously ironic that a black man leads among Hispanics and a Hispanic man among blacks.

How quickly y'all forget!

Article.

Deal (R)- 44%
Carter (D)- 44%
Hunt (L)- 5%

Article.

Nunn (D)- 47%
Perdue (R)- 45%
Swafford (L)- 4%

So a InsiderAdvantage poll has a 33% black sample with Perdue winning by 10, while the AJC has a 24% black sample that shows Perdue ahead by 4?

To begin with, InsiderAdvantage is a junk pollster - always has been.

Especially for a primary where there are tons of candidates...junk pollster! For what it's worth, Huckabee is probably in the lead or close, but Carson? LOL

Google search results for racist terms is strongest in the northeast. Also racist cops have been killing blacks in northern cities, not the south

Except Obama was actually smart, sane, and one of the best candidates available.

Yeah, the US being in two failing and costly wars and the world economy being in freefall certainly had nothing to do with his victory. It was a bunch of white people desperately trying to appear not racist.

Hey, we finally agree on something.

The leas the NYGOP (and lolcuomo) can get in the way of progress, the better.
