Is there any reason dollar bills can't just have rotating portraits? They're always changing quarters. I don't see why you have to keep one person on there indefinitely.

Counterfeiting concerns, I'd imagine.

I would vote for replacing Andrew Jackson with Harriet Tubman.  No politician should ever be on currency in my opinion.

A better idea would be reinstate the $1000 bill and put Tubman on that. Although Andrew Jackson is in definite need of replacement with someone.

We got rid of the over $100 denominations in the first place because the only people who were using them were the Mafia for untraceable movements of large amounts of money. In today's world, where cash is only used for A. small purchases or B. things you'd rather not have show up on a credit report or bank statement, this would be even more true.

probably she wouldn't approve of whatever he's using the money for.

Jackson is not exactly the only Indian killer on our money, but I don't have a big problem replacing him with Tubman. Just so long as she's not a railroad token.

I don't see any big issue with this though I would prefer Eleanor Roosevelt. But whatever. Hard thing to be opposed to.

As much as I despise Andrew Jackson, I see no need to remove his face from the $20 bill.

And would somebody mind telling Hillary that Harriet Tubman was a Republican?

Why does that matter?

throw in a rider that authorizes the US to mint 5000 collectible Reagan golden dollar coins and she could get this through Congress.  and essentially rob a bunch of jerk offs in the process.

so Hillary has jumped on the #womenon20s campaign and backs the pick of Harriet Tubman to replace Andrew Jackson on the 20 dollar bill.
http://time.com/3858943/hillary-clinton-harriet-tubman-20-dollar-bill/

While this may seem like a fringe issue, the US Treasurer has said it is worth considering, Obama has said he thinks it is a good idea and there are bills in both the House and Senate about this. The #womenon20s thing has been big on social media and I think it is a good issue for Hillary and low info female voters.

It would be interesting to see how GOP 2016ers respond to the question "do you support a woman/Harriet Tubman on the $20".  Any answer but yes helps reinforce the stereotype of the GOP as the party for old white men. But the GOP base could not be happy with the idea of a black woman replacing a southern (white) president.

I think FDR should be on the $20

FDR already has the dime, due to long-standing personal association with it.

I personally have no objection, however, this is nothing short of shameless grandstanding on the part of Clinton.

I will go on record as disagreeing. I think 99.99% of the GOP base either couldn't care less, or would think it's a good idea. Of course, the lamestream media, being the lamestream media, will focus on the 0.01%.

Women couldn't vote in most states during Harriet Tubman's lifetime, although she almost certainly would have voted GOP if she could.

While I support this, I have to admit this is not particularly important to me. Most people have no idea who Andrew Jackson is despite the fact that he's on the 20 dollar bill. It's mostly feel good fluff.

The thing is, the Republican Party was different back in the day. Back then, the Democratic Party was full of racist Dixiecrats. For example, much more Republicans supported the Civil Rights Act than Democrats. To be honest, I might have supported the Republican Party back then too, while disagreeing with them on economic policy.

I think we should put Jonas Salk on the $20. He saved more lives in America and around the world than Harriet Tubman, any president or any "liberating" military intervention this country has ever embarked on.

It would help refute the stereotype the rest of the world has of us as a country that isn't interested in science or in "book learnin'" in general.
