According to Wikipedia Florida and Michigan have set 5 Feb as their unofficial date. Looking at the state polls we have the following (granted it's close in many places and could change)
Iowa: Guliani New Hampshire: McCain South Carolina: McCain
And then a sort of Tidal Tuesday, February 5, when a whole bunch of states are going to hold their primaries. Out of those, there are 5 where McCain leads and 1 where Guliani leads. Then there are 4 which there are no polls from. The remaining seem to be mostly Southern states where McCain is likely to have the edge. So, it seems to me that Guliani would very much like to have Florida and Michigan there, considering that he leads in both. If that happens these big states will make him competitive, but if they aren't he's likely to go on with the 3 straight primary losses. And that wouldn't be very good, now would it? (of course, he could just focus on getting Iowa and New Hamshire and hope the rest takes care of itself)
