Rachel Maddow: In a stunning turn of events last night, we saw Governor Scott Walker and former CEO Carly Fiorina win in a landslide last night against Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. What was really surprising about last night, was not that Clinton lost, but just how badly she did. She was polling evenly in Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, just a whole bunch of states, and... just look at the results.
SCOTT WALKER: 52.1% HILLARY CLINTON: 45.2%
SCOTT WALKER: 52.4% HILLARY CLINTON: 46.5%
SCOTT WALKER: 50.4% HILLARY CLINTON: 45.4%
SCOTT WALKER: 50.4% HILLARY CLINTON: 46.5%
There's really no explaining this, but the American people have spoken, and they've spoken for conservative change.
SCOTT WALKER: 338 (52%) HILLARY CLINTON: 200 (46%) Even with these devastating results for Democrats at the national level, there were a few bright spots downballot. Russ Feingold is returning to Washington D.C., defeating incumbent Senator Ron Johnson. Florida's new Senator is Patrick Murphy, who won in the closest Senate race in the country against fellow Congressman DeSantis. The Democrat's strategy for expanding their state legislative power has been a tremendous failure, with the Democrats numbers staying stagnant in every legislative chamber, despite their best efforts.
U.S. SENATE: 53 REPUBLICANS,
45 DEMOCRATS,
2 INDEPENDENTS Republicans made even more gains with gubernatorial mansions, bringing the Democrats to holding only 15 of the executive offices in the country.
This will certainly be an interesting four years, not only for the country, but for the Republican Party.
