[1] New Mexico
[2] NYC
[3] New Jersey
[4] New Hampshire
[5] Upstate New York

Yes this seems fair. Maybe swap Hampshire with Jersey.

More like:

1. Upstate NY (Epitome of perfect)
2. NYC (World class, but too expensive and crowded)
3. New Jersey (Meh)
4. New Hampshire (Not big government enough)
5. New Mexico (Crap weather)

I find it very interesting that we somehow ended up placing 2-4 in the exact same order. Tongue

This. And what's with all the new Hampshire love? Seriously, the best t6hing about it i could thing of was skiing and being close to Boston. Oh, and Dartmouth I guess.

New York has too many scary black people for most of them.

Detroit's not nearly as civilized as New York. I have a fondness for the idea of seclusion in a cold wilderness, preferably buffered by copious amounts of alcohol and Carhartt jackets.

That's all well and good, but romantic notions pale in comparison to practical concerns like availability of good Chinese food.

Uh... the best Chinese food I've ever had is ten minutes away from me.

Oh really?  There are good Chinese places in unusual places like the Twin Cities.  But, I just find it hard to believe I could find the same quality as in NYC.

New Mexico seems like a cool state but I imagine that I'd hate actually living there.

But by all means, keep making up bullsh*t about my state because some people don't like yours.

I've hunted down my fair share of Chinese on campus here in Detroit, but they pale in comparison to the lovely Wong family which I was lucky enough to help consume during my senior year in high school.
YOU ATE THE WONG FAMILY!?

You were supposed to eat the Tang family.  That's it, you're fired.

I like all the stuff there is to do in New York, although New Hampshire is quite beautiful. I haven't been to New Mexico, and I'm just saying no to New Jersey for obvious reasons.

New York, because, hey, every European's fantasy of Murica is something with the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building in the background Tongue

In order:

New Mexico
New York
New Jersey
New Hampshire

I've always wondered why New Mexico doesn't share the higher growth rates that most other Western states have. It is a small state, but otherwise does seem quite nice overall. (I'd certainly much prefer it over Arizona.)
