Can the former Texas governor give Huckabee, Walker, and Cruz problems in October and November in the polls in Iowa, or is he still an afterthought?

I have a feeling Huckster is done after this Duggar incident. That show is huge among Evangelical Christians and just reading tweets and Facebook comments on his page about it... he's alienated his supporters.

The great thing about the Huckabee Facebook page is that the median age of the top commenters has gotta be over 50.

Of course he can. In 2012 it took just 24.5 to win IA. Romney and Santorum essentially tied (with Romney initially declared winner) but imagine if Perry dropped out before IA. He got 10.3, Santorum would probably have got more of that vote so he could have been the decisive winner of IA and had better momentum maybe a win in SC too.

Point is, in a field this big they all effect each other.

Cruz and Huckabee, sure... but Walker has a slightly different base of voters. He needs to be worried about a Rubio (crossover appeal) Bush or Christie (Moderates), not Perry (or Santorum for that matter)

Rick Perry is still under felony indictment.  Now his indictment may go away.  It may be reduced to a misdemeanor where he takes a plea and is able to sell some folks on the idea that it's a political prosecution that he pled out to in order to "get on with his life" (just as most criminals say when they plead no contest after spouting their innocence for months).  But voters aren't anxious to waste a valuable primary vote on a candidate who might be the next Eagleton or worse, and the specter of a Presidential frontrunner going to jail in the midst of the campaign is something the GOP wants to avoid at all costs.

Perry's campaign will be over soon.  He'll drop out, his bills will get paid, and he'll quietly be done with the charges, one way or the other.  He won't go to jail, and he probably won't be convicted of a felony.  But guys in Perry's position can only cause trouble for themselves.  I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Sheldon Adelson, who wants to buy a President, quietly pays Perry's campaign expenses and legal fees.
