As I don't believe in subjecting anyone to the so called 'justice' of the U.S. 'justice system', I would not vote to convict him of anything in the first place, had I been on the jury.

that's my ticket to getting booted from any jury pool.  "seeing as the crimes committed by the state far outweigh any that could be perpetrated by any individual or network of individuals, I could never, in good conscience, vote to convict a defendant in a criminal trial"

I like the Norwegian system... max of 21 years, then the burden is on the state to prove you're still a "danger to society" every 5 years.  reverse parole.
