This story is pretty interesting, in that it seemingly has "good" news for both sides of the argument. For supporters of the ACA and healthcare reform in general, more people getting health insurance is a great thing, and beating expectations is a moment to gloat about how things haven't totally fallen apart like Republicans said they would. On the other hand, Republicans can point to the fact that this will cost a fair amount of money, and gives the holdout GOP Governors and Legislatures all the more reason to dig in their heels.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the fact that poor people are getting healthcare makes most Republicans feel miserable.

So, the Republican Governors are bragging that under their stewardship, their states have more poor people than was projected in 2009?

Hasn't it been demonstrated conclusively that expanding Medicaid is positive cash flow for the states that do it, thanks to the spark it gives the doctor/hospital industry, and the general positive effect on the economy that a healthier working population brings?

It's also the only way to keep all the rural hospitals from going belly up.

But at least they don't have the Medicaid expansion! Because the walk-in uninsured emergency room visits are so much cheaper for everyone...

EDIT: Or maybe their state governments truly can't afford it, because years of cutting rich people's taxes and cutting programs that help everyone (including by definition the poor and the middle class-their disposable incomes rising makes practical economic sense) has destroyed their states' revenue base.

Obamacare continues to be the single greatest piece of legislation passed in this country in more than a generation, and Republicans continue to embarrass themselves by desperately coming up with more and more ridiculous ways to attack it ("B-b-but it's too successful!!"). But what else is new?

People getting healthcare is terrible! LOLOL

I would make some revisions to Obamacare, but it is a good bill and I have no qualms at all with the medicaid expansion component.

The spark for the doctor/hospital industry is not likely to be there so much now that the temporary  post-ACA bump in Medicaid reimbursement to providers in ending.

If the Moderate Hero is for it, you can put a fork in the opposition. They're done.
