Comer has asked for a recanvass, which won't happen until the 28th. And he can bring the election to court afterwards. So nothing is official yet.

Why? Wouldn't Conway prefer the guy who literally beat his college girlfriend?

This forum is insane.

Yeah.  Bevin also comes across as quite reasonable in his ads.  His only controversial position is dismantling KYnect, which will likely be Conway's big selling point.  But still, that weakness is a whole lot less than Comer's crimes.

Damn, this will be drawed out, but Bevin will ultimately win even after a recount, as almost all candidates who come out on top the first time usually win. I'm pleased to see Bevin in the lead with the establishment totally against him.

Who should I, as a Democrat, be happy or sad about winning or losing?

There's no way Kentucky will care about that issue and it seems to have helped him in the primary. Heiner took the heat for it.

As someone who hasn't looked into it (except for the press conference where he described the dynamics of a State FFA officer team which was esoterically hysterical), I view the claims as unsubstantiated mudslinging by the Heiner campaign. Sure, it's possible (and perhaps likely) they're true, but I have no way of knowing so I would support the otherwise sane man if I'm a middle-information KY swing voter. Bevin probably scares me more making me go Conservadem.

Also, it's hard to match Conway's statesman like appearance, but at least Comer can occasionally pull it off.

Comer's roommates corroborated the story.

Stilll Toss-up. We really can't predict the dynamics of the race (who knows if Conway or Bevin will implode).

Ok, so it's almost certainly true. He's likely a horrible narcissist. Worse than most politicians. I don't think it's going to affect his electability. It's Kentucky.

Be happy that Heiner lost; he's a fairly moderate big-money Republican with the funding to cause Conway trouble. Two weeks ago, I'd also say be happy about Comer losing, but since these domestic violence allegations have emerged, I don't know. There's probably more lines of attack against Bevin, and it's questionable whether all of the Kentucky establishment will unite behind him (lingering effects of the McConnell primary), but the violence against Comer is damning. Good primary, all in all.

OK, come on.  Kentucky's hardly the best state in the Union, but I am pretty dang confident most Kentuckians think beating your wife is wrong (especially considering half the electorate is female Tongue ).

Heiner was probably the most electable, followed by Bevin, and Comer way at the end.  KY is too Democratic at the statewide level for Comer to have a plausible pathway to the governorship.

Bevin will be Governor. Conway has a habit of losing to Tea Party candidates in landslides.

Habit, noun: a settled or regular tendency or practice. One instance doesn't make a habit.

He's beaten 2 Tea Party candidates in a landslide in 2 different Attorney General elections.

Used to be one with a 40% threshold, but it was eliminated a few years ago.

These two races; La and KY are the same states that elected a tea party senate.
But, it is possible Dems win one of these. Conway has a chance.

I haven't really paid any attention to these races but I'd imagine Conway is the favorite to win, no?

It all depends on if his margin in Louisville can make up for getting killed in coal country

If Bevin wins the primary, yes. Conway will have a 50-50 shot against Comer.
