I don't know what labor union I even could be in ... I just graduated college and got my first job in the finance department of a company that's headquartered here.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't join one anyway.

No, but I have been a long time member of a credit union ever since I was in college, and I once worked for an employer who initially thought that they were related when the idea of having one for the workers there was brought up. (This was some years before when I was hired by that employer.)

No (because I'm still a student) and I won't be when I start working because there's no such thing as a union for lawyers working for a private law firm. Maybe one day I'd like to work for the FTC or FCC, in which case I would consider joining the AFGE.

No.  I've been considering joining one since the year began, but I just quit my job.  I should join one though.

Yes, I'm a member of the AK (Arbeiterkammer).

0.5% of my monthly gross wage is automatically deducted as membership fee because union membership is mandatory here.

No, never.  And despite the poll results I'm kind of amazed so many people here have.

Side fact:

In 1996 the AK, which represents most of the Austrian employees (3.5 million), held a membership vote if mandatory membership and union representation should continue.

Turnout was 70% and 90.6% voted Yes.

No, I currently work in a family business (where bosses are unionised, but that's due to a detail in Quebec law than all construction workers have to be unionised, even if they are business owners).

When I get a job in chemistry, should be 50/50, tending towards 0 by the end of a normal career through.

Because Austrians follow common sense on this issue.
