Aid to Khmer Rouge, aid to the Contra's, aid to South Africa (though eventually forced to cut ties), aid to Suharto, aid to the FMLN, illegal invasion of Grenada, illegal bombing of Libya, etc, etc. The Reagan Doctrine is a collection of skeletons.

Unfortunately, there is little to admire about his fiscal agenda either. Reagan's policy was one of deliberately reducing the standard of living of Americans; deindustrializing the nation and shifted skilled workers to burger-flipping jobs, and brutal cuts to services. Meanwhile, his "Future Tradings Act" led to the hyper-speculation of "derivatives," making the situation even more chaotic.  His "just say no" was a pathetic failure, and his supporters seeming forget his presidency marked what remains the highest homicide rate in American history.

This sums it up better than I ever could though:

A former New Dealer who quadrupled the deficit, raised taxes 11 times, cut and ran from Lebanon after a terrorist attack, and made lots of secret deals with the current Iranian regime. Both a horrible right-wing President, and would be considered a total RINO today.

Seriously, did any of the hacks criticizing Obama for Iran ever hear of the Iran-Contra scandal?

Yes (R)

Very overrated by conservatives (in a very ironic way, given his governing) and underrated by modern day Democrats.

Well what do they know? They also think Wilson, TR and Jackson deserve top spots as well Cheesy these rankings always are based as consequentiality rather than whether a POTUS was 'good'

Anyway, Reagan was a dreadful idiot.

Arguably our worst president. In the bottom five, at least.

Yes, he was, and grouping him with Fillmore, Pierce, and Buchanan is insulting to the history of the country.

True, for those people weren't involved in "secret government" schemes like Reagan; although to his credit, Reagan never advocated reviving slavery.

Yes (not a hack).  He ushered in an era of consistent economic growth, ended the Cold War without a shot, and put America on track for the peace and prosperity of the 90s.
