Maybe...though other than the UK (and maybe Canada) the Commonwealth probably doesn't want us.

What would we gain from doing so aside from being able to participate in the Commonwealth Games?

I think we would end up overshadowing the whole thing. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the non-Anglophone countries left because they didn't want to be in the "'Murica League" and formed an alternative organization that was basically Commonwealth Minus the US.

Honestly I knew some Brits who kept telling how important the Commonwealth are, but I really have no idea what it does, except for the Commonwealth Game.

The Commonwealth exists mostly to shame former British colonies by expelling them when they have coups.

It's not something that's relevant to the US.

Massachusetts (and Maine) are welcome. Maybe Virginia (and West Virginia and Kentucky) too. Colonies and their cut-offs that have no need to stay in the United States of America, but instead should take their rightful place in the Commonwealth of Nations.

Hawai'i also possible.

No reason why they can't do both IMO...

That's why I requoted Polly.  The mistake is that Brits and their club of lessees think Americans are somehow envious of them.
