One to reduce marijuana penalties (make it a fine), one to limit civil asset forfeiture, and another to allow felons to vote.

A shame, these bills would've increased individual liberty. I wish that Republicans like Larry Hogan would stand up to their promise of fighting government abuse. Instead they choose to keep it for the sake of security.

Is there any chance to override his veto?

---------

It's really disappointing to see certain republicans complain about big government and/or big deficits when they're running for office and then fail to do anything about them when they are in office. If I was in office, I'd consider an increased deficit during my tenure as a personal failure, but for some actual politicians, it's "well it's my party so it's okay". And that's just despicable.

I'd reckon most "moderate" Republicans would have vetoed all of those bills.  I would have only supported the prohibition of civil asset forefeiture on constitutional grounds. I don't think allowing felons to vote is a good idea.

Honestly surprised these weren't the rule of the land before. O'Malley should have tried to get these passed when he was a lame duck.

Ah well, I guess. Maryland voted for this moron.

Yes. There are very few prominent moderate republicans who want pot legalized. Look at Christie.  Look what has happened to Seattle and Denver.

The commentary is how moderate Republicans are still complete and utter sh[inks] despite the "moderate" modifier that tries to make them appear less so.

The only reason I could think of to veto these bills is because you support marijuana prohibition, civil asset forfeiture, and disenfranchising felons.

All of this makes it pretty clear that Larry Hogan is a despicable man.

Yes, its despicable to try to get drugs out of the street and not  let felons decide elections.  You know, like the vast majority of the world does.

If you want to repeal Civil asset forfeiture , start electing conservatives.

Felons can vote in most countries.

You mean two cities that are thriving culturally and economically? Two cities that businesses and students flock to? Those cities?

The commentary is how moderate Republicans are still complete and utter sh[inks] despite the "moderate" modifier that tries to make them appear less so.

What are you even saying?  You can be a moderate when all of your views are taken into an aggregate and still feel strongly/have an "extreme" position on something; that doesn't disqualify you from calling yourself a moderate.  Look, this site is probably about 75% passionate partisans, and they're always going to portray their political enemies as extremists, evil, dumb, whatever other bullsh*t they can come up with; I get that.  However, the narrative that Republicans are really that different or more conservative than they were a few decades ago is SO overused.  If you find tough-on-drugs stances deplorable and find pro-business policies evil, then it has been a LONG damn time since you'd feel comfortable in the GOP ... heck, I'd argue you would have never felt at home.

My point?  If you don't think there are any "moderate" Republicans now, fine ... I think that's RIDICULOUS, but I can't change your mind.  However, let's not pretend like it's a new phenomenon.  It's so annoying to see people like Rauner or Hogan do ANYTHING that differs from your average Democratic foot soldier, and now all of a sudden they were lying about being moderates the whole time!!!!  Lol...

Lol wut? Both cities are thriving more now than they ever have, and pot legalization has done nothing to hinder that growth.

Hint: he's making fun of the term "moderate Republican," not the terms separately.
