1. Mass
2. Conn
3. Vermont
4. PA
5. NJ

All pale in comparison however to the Hudson Valley, which is the Garden of Eden  just a stunningly beautiful place, landscape wise and as to what man has wrought, mostly 75 years ago or more.

1. Wisconsin
2. Michigan
3. Iowa
4. Indiana
5. Missouri
6. Kentucky

For the record, I don't consider Illinois and Michigan as bordering each other, but in college I took a geography of Illinois class and it was steadfast in believing that the two bordered.

I live in Iowa City now, so from that perspective, Illinois (though Omaha, Milwaukee or Minneapolis would be more than fine).  From Illinois, probably Iowa or Indiana (Indianapolis).

How do they eff that up?

Hmm yeah no idea. Thought I'd include it though. The UP looks so effing amazing I wanna go soon. Or Sleeping Bear Dunes. I've only been to Michigan once for a very very short period of time, but I loved it.

Each state on the Lake control portions of the water, and Michigan and Illinois' borders that way touch. That is probably where they derived it. So they would also say that Michigan and Wisconsin border.

For me:

1) Wisconsin

2) Missouri (StL)
3) Indiana (Indy)
4) Iowa
5) Kentucky

You don't need the lake for that one.

Exactly my thoughts to get more specific when speaking from Virginia (which is where I am 2/3 of the year anyway)
