Oxford votes In comfortably - by over 30,000 votes (70-30).

University people are pretty united on this. Generally, the opinion out there is, this will strike the university system really badly, especially at research level.

It's early, true. But very good results for Leave.

BBC: sources in Labour call it for Leave.

People, its really happening. Im so proud of the UK. They do love freedom!

They must also love the collapse in their economy.

You really dont understand the arguments. Back to project fear. Britons just never will be slaves!

Hopefully this means further integration for the remainder of Europe now that they are not weighed down by the UK.

Hardly,

Means Right parties from Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, France and others gain support.

Mama Merkel is surely going to pay for invinting 2 million guests to someone elses home.

And now the nazi!
Lol at Extreme Leftie hahahhah, go get checked. Nazis killed my Great grandparents for being Slavs so please, you are not fit to comment on this.

When/if Brexit happens, Strache/Le Pen will have a field day with this.

Look, granted, if we do leave there will be uncertainty, but the idea that voting to leave the EU will instantly destroy the British economy is a joke. In fact, leaving might actually be beneficial to certain sectors, ie accountancy.

You think there's really much appetite for the pan European state on the continent?

I doubt that very much.

Some polls have shown that half of French and Swedish citizens would want a similar referendum. Of course, their governments are unlikely to grant them one.

So, why are you joining them, if that is the case?

More to the point, this thing is hardly over yet, there's been a big swing back to Remain with results from university towns and London coming in.

What you all need to understand is that a vote to leave doesn't mean that the UK immediately exits the EU. Oh no. Firstly this is an advisory referendum and is not legally binding and secondly the EUs own rules don't allow for anything so simple. What it means is the start of a lengthy period of negotiation and haggling the end result of which is by no means clear. The range of possibilities are rather large...

No. We're out. It's done

I want a second independence referendum. I want out of this

Leave lead down to 22K.  I will now accept my accolades for my prediction about London making it tighter.

You're so stupid.  It's obvious from only about 10% of the vote that Leave will win. Tongue

True, but there's still the bulk of the SW and home Counties.

Look, granted, if we do leave there will be uncertainty, but the idea that voting to leave the EU will instantly destroy the British economy is a joke. In fact, leaving might actually be beneficial to certain sectors, ie accountancy.

Particularly as a vote to leave does not equal immediately leaving. Christ knows what will actually happen, particularly as pretty much all LEAVE Tories are still pro Single Market (!). Everyone needs to take ten or go to sleep.

I mean there's a risk of the markets throwing a wobbly with all that can then result, yes. That's a deffo possibility. But is distinct...

(such a strange event, I'm even agreeing with cassius up to a point).

Glasgow City,  result:
Remain: 66.6% (168,335)
Leave: 33.4% (84,474)

And that takes Remain ahead, at least for the moment. The margin is about 53K.
