In 1988, Vice President George H. W. Bush stuns the world by deciding not to run for President. Televangelist Pat Robertson is able to mobilize evangelical support to beat out Kansas Senator Bob Dole for the Republican nomination. He chooses Senator Jesse Helms of North Carolina to be his running mate.

On the Democratic side, Jesse Jackson is able to pull out a victory against a crowded field. In a surprise move, he chooses former Klansman David Duke to be his running mate.

Economic and other historical conditions are the same as in real life.

How does the election turn out? Please discuss with maps!

Jackson/Duke: 11
Robertson/Helms: 48
Clinton/Kean: 497

Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton launches an independent campaign that receives wide, bipartisan support. He selects Republican Governor of New Jersey Tom Kean as a sign of this bipartisan unity. He goes on to win a massive landslide.
