Kirkpatrick. She not only survived the wave in 2014 when everyone was predicting her defeat, but she also expanded her margin of victory from 2012/with higher turnout. That bodes well for her electability. She also stood by her vote for Obamacare when many other Democrats were running away from it. Nice to see a politician stand on principle. Don't count her out. #Endorsed

McCain should win the general, but I'm happy that the Dems will have a strong candidate in case McCain is primaried or just turns out to be really unpopular.

McCain probably beats Kirkpatrick narrowly, as does just about any non-Akin Republican.

Hopefully the Clinton campaign puts some focus on Arizona to drive up Hispanic turnout.

IDK, he's pretty unpopular IIRC.

We have to remember that he probably won't even win the primary though...

I thought he won that primary by a 24 point margin? He isn't unbeatable, but I'll be surprised (and sad) if he loses now.

He won the general with a 24 point margin...which was kind of a joke since the Democrats didn't have a serious contender for the seat at all.

Right now, I'd say McCain would win by single digits, but Kirlpatrick is a solid recruit, and could surprise us. If McCain loses the primary, we'll have a real race on our hands for sure.

Rodney Glassman did quite well in the debate. Also, Kirkpatrick IS a good candidate (still worse than Carmona, though), but she is too liberal for AZ. And keep in mind: This is the state that voted for Jan freaking Brewer by 12 points over a great Democratic candidate.

Kirkpatrick was elected in AZ-1, which is an R+3 district.    She hosts a lot of bipartisan legislation and definitely knows how to win cross over voters.

Checked, won both primary and general by about the same margin of 24 points. It wasn't that bad of a performance...

He still had to funnell 21 million into his campaign warchest; and Sarah Palin, the top dog in the tea party movement came to campaign for McCain was his saving grace.

McCain isnt unbeatable; it will take work to beat him.

Ann Kirkpatrick is a serious candidate, but she wouldn't beat McCain.  Democrats' hope is that the Tea Party element rallies around a McCain primary challenger.  But, I wouldn't bet on it.

RINO McCain -  only because Senate is in play.

How is John "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" a RINO? Huh He's like, moderate on two or three issues.

The Tea Party bases it on his support for comprehensive immigration reform. Also, McCain supported cap and trade back in the day and has voted to increase the debt ceiling.
