Figured I might as well make a thread for all Utah Congressional races (both House and Senate) since UT-04 and UT-Sen are both theoretically competitive (Senate only with a single candidate, but I digress).

Anyway, here's an article to start things off: http://utahpolicy.com/index.php/features/today-at-utah-policy/5769-poll-shows-love-would-have-close-race-against-owens-or-winder-in-2016

There's a bit more at the end of the article mentioning how people who identify as one religion or another vote for each candidate, but I cut that out (as well as the graphics) to avoid plagarizing or other legal problems. Or whatever keeps us from posting the whole article.

Still, it's interesting in that Love hasn't really improved from her 2014 win, despite being an incumbent.

I was a bit concerned about how extensive the quote above is, and rooted around in the Cave as to what Forum policy is about the extent to which an article can be quoted vis a vis the copyright law. It appears that the rule of thumb is that up to a third of an article can be quoted, and should be linked. So the quote above appears to fit within the accepted parameters.  Smiley

Is Jon Huntsman pretty well out of the running for Senate?

Is Jon Huntsman pretty well out of the running for Senate?

He's a co-chair for Mike Lee's campaign, so yeah. The common wisdom in Utah pol circles is that Huntsman is gearing up for a run for Orrin Hatch's seat (assuming Hatch retires, which is not a 100% guarantee), and wants the endorsement of Utah's other senator.

Also, in a match-up, Lee beats Doug Owens 55-36. If that number held true in a general election, it'd be the high water mark for Utah Dems in the last three election cycles. We just... don't get many votes. And with the "establishment" Republicans all sitting out this election cycle, there are no Republican challengers to Lee.
