December 2016 - The end of another tough year for De Blasio


December 2016 - Throughout early 2016, things finally seemed to get better for Mayor DeBlasio - his presence seemed more focused, his agenda sharpened and ready to be passed, and his image began to recover after an early weakness. But the Mayor of New York City had a rough couple of months when his attempts to regulate the Uber app became the laughing stock of the city. Many people opposing DeBlasio, including Democrats, summarily mocked him. But that wasn't the biggest revelation - the biggest was the cities finances, which, after a couple of years of improvement, fell into massive debt. DeBlasio, the incumbent, was blamed for it, mostly for his lavish attempted programs on education and infrastructure. This led to a budget battle that has left him rather bloody. People are looking around for opposition... Including the Governor.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has very quietly led a coup against the Mayor of New York City, as they have bumped heads many a time in the last couple of months. Cuomo recognizes his danger in a Democratic Party, and that a DeBlasio candidacy could wreck him entirely. Thus Cuomo has taken on a great risk to ensure that doesn't happen. He met with Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, hoping to find his man. On December 14th, 2016, he finally did...
