This might explain some of his recent moves. If the donor class are going to be suspicious of him regardless, he may as well try and recapture some of the small-dollar enthusiasm his father had by poking the GOP in the eye more.

Rand's only chance is through huge debate performances and being a media darling.

The problem is that Cruz will probably out-bombast him in debates and the media is too busy fellating Rubio to notice him.

RIP libertarianism. Good riddance.

The invisible hand of the free market has decided liberty isn't worth funding.

LOL at believing that the Koch brothers give a shiite about libertarianism.
They only want an obedient stooge that will help them fill their pockets with even more money by cutting their taxes and deregulating the market.

Yup...The Koch's use libertarianism as a tool, when it suits their needs to gain more profit they're all for it.   The minute it loses it's worth,  they toss it out the window.

May force me to actually donate to Rand Paul, but it's not as if my $25 is going to help.

Welp, I guess this means I gotta buy a t-shirt.

He needs a few more moneybombs to hold him over. Ron Paul didn't have a big sugar daddy donor either.

Ron Paul didn't win a single primary or caucus.

He came close in a number of primaries. If Ron Paul ran in 2012 with 2016's fields, he'd easily win many primaries and caucuses due to vote splitting. It was basically a four man race right out of Iowa in 2012. It could very well be a ten man race this time around.

Indeed. Running as VP for a political party with no chance of winning is a surefire way to line your pockets.

I bet they've been raking in the dough with their opposition to the PATRIOT Act and mandatory minimums too.

I'm a little surprised... you'd think young Republicans would choose him as their candidate far and away.

Most young Republicans, like most young Democrats, are low information voters and haven't tuned in. They are still up for grabs and will be until the campaign heats up.

Yeah, because young people are known to have the disposable income to donate large sums of money to political campaigns... oh wait.

Well, Ron Pauls supporters were stereotypically young and he was known for his "moneybombs". Then again, a $5 million moneybomb doesn't mean what it did eight or even four years ago. The key is getting the billionaires now.

What about their cynical self-serving funding of climate change denial?

He's not enough of a warmonger to win in the Republican primaries.
