"Former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee will officially enter the presidential race on June 3, a source with knowledge of his plans told POLITICO.
He’ll make the announcement in a speech he’s scheduled to deliver next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the George Mason Center for Politics & Foreign Relations in Arlington, Virginia. Following the announcement, Chafee will travel to New Hampshire on June 4 for a previously scheduled event with local Democrats in Grafton County."

It's over, Hillary should drop out now!

Seriously though, it's nice to see a decent amount of candidates on the Democratic side. Whether any of those candidates, besides Hillary, has a shot in hell is another story

On the bright side, it's a very short story. It's made entirely of one word consisting of two letters. Wink

With Chaffee, there are two (2) Democratic Presidential candidates who are former elected officials who have never run for office as a Democrat (Sanders, of course, being the other one).  Is this a first?

In the best case scenario, I wonder if Chafee could win more than 25% in Rhode Island.

Doubtful. My state hates him. Hillary is the best fit of all the candidates for RI.

On top of that, Rhode Island doesn't hold its primary until April 26th, by which time Chafee will have long since dropped out of the race.

That is an interesting question. It may be the first time that there are two candidates doing this but John V. Lindsay pulled a very similar move to Chaffee in 1972 and in the pre-modern era there are many more examples of this type of thing, for example Hiram Johnson in 1920

I'm glad that he's entering by the race. Every time I think about him running, it makes me laugh.

I was going to be a loyal Marylander and back O'Malley. But I have a fever, and the only prescription is the Metric System.

his supposed platform is actually cool.  he even took the stance that Edward Snowden should be allowed to live in the USA, and thus not prosecuted, which isn't a popular one with the 'insiders' and Washington statists.

sad thing is, all he'll do is split up the left-wing anti-Hillary vote.  the platform is so bold that you have to wonder is he's a Hillary trojan horse to destroy Sanders.

My take as a Democrat: Drone strikes are cool, capital punishment is good ONLY if the convicted is without-a-doubt guilty, execute Edward Snowden.
