We can speculate about what would've happened in 2010 until the cows come home. It's not 2010 anymore, and unless Bennet faces a similar atmosphere, it's reasonable to assume he'll be favored, especially since the Republicans don't exactly have a juggernaut to run against him.

He's right actually. Calamity Jane would've beat Bennet.

But who do the pubs have that is even comparable? Cynthia "We defunded Planned Parenthood!"/"I might support gay marriage, but I also might not" (real quotes from her btw) Coffman? She's 4 months into her new job and as dense as a doornail. Ellen Roberts? She doesn't know what Roe v Wade did.

And now the entire staff of the COGOP just resigned in response to Ryan Call losing his leadership election. If things continue at this pace, Coffman might not even keep his House seat. The COGOP is in total civil war, has no credible moderate candidates... It's bad for them. They had better hope for Rubio and/or Paul on the Presidential ticket, otherwise it could be a real bloodbath in 2016.

I think they should honestly nominate John Elway for Senate though. The old ham sandwich has been threatening to run since Salazar, so why not give it a try. He has no record he'd need to flip-flop on.

This is why Coffman is a bad candidate.

He shouldn't have used that exact language, but this statement pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter:

If I vote for a candidate because I like them, and not because they are just a lesser of two evils, it will always be a moderate of some type. I will not back down from criticizing the tea party conservative movement and its Santorum-esque proponents, nor will I back down from criticizing the partisan liberal movement and its Shaheen-esque proponents.

Atlas privilege is using a random senator who's unknown outside their state to describe partisanship. Not even going into the fact that you're using a senator that voted for TPP (which seems to be the issue du jour that the liberal movement opposes) as your example.

Even odder considering his hateboner for Shaheen is literally based off of a regurgitated statement from the NH Republican Party.

Jeanne Shaheen is an unapologetic liberal who is in the tank for Harry Reid with essentially every vote she makes.

Except the one that counts most in 2015.

He would've still been a slight underdog against Bennet, he was probably the best possible candidate for the Republicans. Bennet still can't rest easy, but it wouldn't be logical to call this race anything less than Lean D.
Since when?  Bennet is only in his first full term.  He would've probably lost to Jane Norton in 2010 if it weren't for the Tea Partiers nominating Ken Buck instead.
Maybe maybe not.

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet gets a 41 - 34 percent approval rating and voters say 40 - 32 percent that he does not deserve reelection in 2016.

Don't these numbers massively conflict? 40% oppose reelection. He's one of my least favorites so I'll be glad if we could knock him out. He's the favorite, but Dems should worry about a low ceiling. Still, it's Q in Colorado so we obviously need a lot more than this to analyze the state of the race.

GOP best bet is NV; but Dems are gonna pickup OH and FL and perhaps MO as well as WI& IL. Bennet is entrenched enough to win; perhaps Toomey as well.

So, they're hoping that Brauchler will trend the Buck (or something like that.)

Brauchler strikes me as a very risky, unpredictable candidate: He could turn out to be a better candidate than Gardner, but also might end up being worse than Buck. Bennet is definitely vulnerable, but as of now it seems that this seat will only flip in a wave (same is true for North Carolina). Lean D.

Isn't Likely D a better rating for that description?

El Paso County Commissioner Darryl Glenn has been running for a while, as well as a Former Director of the Small Business Administration (Colorado) Greg Lopez and a perennial candidate.

Josh Penry or Jane Norton would both make the seat very competitive.

Would Suthers consider, also?

Jane Norton? What is this, 2010? She's a huge paper tiger, and a name from the past.

Suthers is now the mayor of Colorado Springs, he just got elected.
