Is this the guy Wulfric was telling us was going to beat Bennet?

He would have been favored against Bennet, but was hardly a guaranteed winner. But this decision is a big boost to the Bennet campaign.

Don't worry. I'm confident Cynthia can do it, though she isn't as strong of a candidate as her husband would have been.

No he wouldn't have. Gardner barely won his race last year with every possible advantage on his side. No Republican would start out favored against a stronger incumbent than Udall in a presidential year.

One huge difference between Gardner and Coffman is gardner never had a tough race before his senate campaign. Coffman has had 2 tough races in his house district, giving him key preparation for a competitive senate race. Also, Coffman has spent the last few years carefully moderating himself and becoming more establishment, while Gardner was basically a teapartier right up to the moment he began running for senate.

Both of these mean that Coffman would have been a much better candidate than Gardner.

He shouldn't have used that exact language, but this statement pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter:

ayyyy Wulfric the "Independent" everyone.

If I vote for a candidate because I like them, and not because they are just a lesser of two evils, it will always be a moderate of some type. I will not back down from criticizing the tea party conservative movement and its Santorum-esque proponents, nor will I back down from criticizing the partisan liberal movement and its Shaheen-esque proponents.

Jeanne Shaheen is an unapologetic liberal who is in the tank for Harry Reid with essentially every vote she makes.

Good news for the CO GOP. The Coffmans and Brauchler would have lost to Bennet. Anyway, this race looks like the NC one: Winnable with a perfect candidate and a perfect campaign, otherwise just fools' gold.

Even if the bolded part is true, they can still run a closer race than Robert Blaha or Greg Lopez can. And it's better to run a candidate who can at least give Dems a scare and get them to spend money here than nominate a complete joke like Blaha or Lopez.

Last Dem Corp poll showed Bennet doing very well against GOP.

That just doesn't make sense. If Mark Udall of all people could get thrown out and be replaced by a clown like Cory Gardnernor no real reason, how is Bennet doing so well?

Because Michael Bennet hasn't started running a one-issue campaign on abortion to the point where the papers are calling him Michael Uterus (yet). That's the main reason Mark Udall lost.
