Five days after his re-election. Guaranteed one (or all) of the 14 arrested last week turned.

His right hand man was named today as the official who authorised a $10m bribe from the South African 2010 World Cup committee to Jack Warner in 2008.

This is going to get beautifully messy.

If you listen very closely you can hear a small rainforest's worth of papers being hurriedly shredded.

FIFA should just be dissolved at this point; what an embarrassment of an organisation.

I suspect that there will be enormous pressure on whoever is the next president to yank the world cup away from Qatar.

LOL, FIFA

But yeah, it seems the sudden resignation was triggered by the fact that U.S. authorities have launched an investigation against Blatter now. He really should have seen this coming. Why did he run for re-election instead of fleeing to Moscow and seeking asylum there or something? Tongue

Unfortunately Platini voted for Qatar back in 2010.

Ugh, from what I'm hearing here in France, Platini is as corrupt as Blatter. I really hope he doesn't end up benefiting from all this.

Excellent! Cheesy Proves there is still some justice in the world.

It's a shame the entire FIFA organisation is rotten to the core when it comes to corruption, it won't make a difference in the long run. Though hopefully this will scare the people who take over to behave for a few years at least.

And I will cross my fingers that this means Qatar will have the World Cup taken from them and rewarded to a serious country.

By "everybody" you mean corrupt scumbag politicians I presume. Wink

Jack Warner: FIFA Bought 2010 Trinidad Elections.

http://deadspin.com/indicted-official-on-national-tv-broadcast-fifa-funded-1708869893

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/04/fifa-crisis-jack-warner-says-he-fears-for-life-and-will-reveal-avalanche-of-secrets

Call me naive, but a month ago I wouldn't have suspected that Big Soccer was pulling the strings of the Trinidad government. Granted, a month ago I'd have had no reasons to think of the Trinidad government. You expect this kind of thing from oil companies or sugar companies or fruit companies, not...FIFA. That's not naivete, it's confusion as to how buying the government of a tiny Caribbean island to have its occasional votes on procedural manners in an international sports league seems absurdly over the top.

I am thoroughly impressed with these excellent scoops WarnerTV has been bringing us. I wish the channel was available in the US Sad

I have to wonder; who's bribe money did Warner use to buy the airtime for that announcement?

If they find the time and money to buy the government of a backwater island nation, it begs the question: who else more important and influential *have* they bought?

By this point I'm so cynical I'm not surprised to hear FIFA bribed the Irish FA to keep quiet about the 2009 handball incident (and thus induce them not to do their best in the 2014 qualifiers).
