In Austria, cops can search cars whenever they want.

Which means you have no choice anyway.

Especially because the mandatory warning triangle and first-aid kit is usually in the trunk and police can check for this without notice and you have to open your trunk if asked.

Police here are also required to check cars and drivers at random to look for drunks and drug users, so if you are picked randomly for a stop-and-search operation you will have to comply.
