Yeah, it's easy to say "no" in theory, but when you're actually in that situation and you know the cop isn't going to find anything it can be awfully easy to say go ahead just to "grease the wheels" a little bit. Ironically, the best reason for a strict "no" policy is if you think there will eventually be a time when you really have something to hide. That way, you won't be "acting guilty" when the day comes.
