Debate will last until debate has ended.

Clyde, you have 36 hours to advocate for your bill.

One point, debate doesn't end on saturday. There is no limit to debate time, in theory. The rule is that the debate must last for at least 72 hours, not for 72 hours.

Don't get me wrong either, I appreciate that voting is prompt, but there have been a few bills where debate was closed clearly before it should've been. While this may not always be the case, maybe discretion is the better part of valor.

I was told after I put this in the introduction thread that there is already a Federal bill on this (I, personally, couldn't see one) - so I'll amend my bill to be the same as Federal. This would mean that if the Senate votes to overturn their law, we'd still allow assisted suicide.

I've always supported assisted suicide and I will support it here.

I'm OK with it, as it is already Federal law and matches with the Northeastern way of doing things.

I feel that debate has sufficiently run its course on this bill and will now end debate.

We will now move to a 48 hour votes.

Disregard the previous. Debate can continue for as long as it is fit so to do. My vote will be stricken from the record and a new vote will be recast upon proper completion of the debate period.

I don't think there's anything to debate, tbh. It appears that we all support this bill.

I, thus, call for closure of the debating period.

This was my reasoning in ending the vote when I did. It seems some just want to stir up trouble for me because I'm a candidate for President...

As it would take more time for the cloture vote to take place (24 hours) than there would be waiting for 72 hours to expire (21 hours), I'll rule his motion out of order - although I agree with the sentiment.

It's nothing to do with that-its because I use to be a Speaker here you know, and I had people like Sawx and Winfield to help me manage it as well. I made countless mistakes as speaker, and I was grateful that people didn't humour me for two months.

There's not much going on in the Senate so I don't see what's wrong with me getting involded in the Assembly that I vote for. The Speaker has an obligation to uphold the SOAP and its because stuff is getting through this chamber that should have been debated about for a much longer period of time e.g the gas tax, e.g the event referendum and many more.

If this was about Presidental Politics then why would I have broken party lines to question some aspects of Clyde's Devolution bill? I've been involded in regional government long before you declared-if I see something I disagree with on this board I'm going to comment on it. If your calling me out for what I think you are at least have the courage to do it directly
