I'm guessing right-leaning libertarians though there could be a sizable left-leaning minority that's environmentalists.

I assume a typical cowboy would be older, white, male, and live in a rural area. All signs point to Republican.

Heavily Republican 1980-present, evenly split to lean R 1952-1980, heavily Democratic 1896-1952.

How does Cliven Bundy vote? That's the constituency he's from.

Are we talking about rodeo cowboys? They're generally young, white men from the Great Plains or Mountain West. If we're talking about ranch hands, same story.

I'm guessing Republican.

There are a lot of Hispanic cowboys, too.

That's why the TX Hispanic vote is inside 60/40.

Probably either Republican or Libertarian.  Back in the day, I would suspect the white cowboys voted Democrat and the black ones voted Republican.

I can't think of any reason they'd vote Democrat, regardless of their social views.

Overwhelmingly Republican since 1968, and generally Republican before that.

I can't think of any reason they'd vote Democrat, regardless of their social views.

A sizable minority might be influenced to some extent by environmentalist/green thinking.

True, but I'd guess those folks would more than likely be environmentally "liberal" Republicans before they'd be Democrats who disagree with the party on its founding principles but join it solely because of environmental concerns.  No way to know, I guess.

Heavily Republican. Very isolated, so hard to reach by any political interests other than their employers. Employers have to take care of them, supplying housing because it's hard to find cheap apartments in ranch country. Paternalistic labor-management relations practically make Republican voting a certainty.
