The first three were nonentities, Smith was a weirdo, Stevenson began the decline of the working-class Democratic base and Mondale was (is?) a hack. McGovern.

1. Smith
2. McGovern
3. Mondale
4. Parker

Davis might be acceptable too, but I don't know a ton about him.

EASILY McGovern. A damn shame that he lost, especially by the margin he did.

For the purpose of this poll, I voted Mondale.  But where is Carter in 1980?

How can you vote for McGovern if you complain about the decline of the working-class Democratic base? This isn't in relation to McGovern's own actions, but Nixon was able to get the endorsements of a number of more conservative union leaders to join the "Democrats for Nixon" camp. Hell, didn't Nixon almost win NYC that year for God's sake?

Wheres Carter he lost 489-49 that's certainly a landslide in any definition of the word landslide. America goes by electoral college, not popular so you should use the electoral college.
