The Bill is pretty self-explanatory and addresses a real and tangible effect of climate change. We have so much infrastructure, much of it vital, along our coasts and in other areas at high risk from the effects of climate change, including sea-level rise, storm, surges, increased salinity in some areas.

I'm very open to any ideas that Senator Blair or others have.

What percentage of the total cost of this project is covered here? I would assume that it is more then $500 mil + 500 mil per region? Or am I underestimating the costs?

Also what kind of activities would be covered under, "protect, re-enforce and ensure long-term utility of these facilities". Raising road and rail can be pretty expensive I would assume.

So the maximum the Federal Government will provide to a region is $500m per year. Each project must be co-funded, which means regions who have the willingness to co-fund to a 50-50 split, or better, will have more or larger projects they can undertake, as opposed to those that are only willing to do a 30-70 split.

I was more after what the total cost of securing the included vulnerable infrastructure is and what percentage of that this bill funds.

A final vote is now open. It will last 72 hours or until a majority has been reached to pass or fail this bill.

AYE

Though I would have preferred at least some answers regarding the question that I asked pertaining the total infrastucture at risk (probably Trillions) and the amount necessary to protect it (probably billions), from climate change.

This is a sensible and thoughtful bill which will do a lot to maintain the vital infrastructure that we all use everyday.

Though I would have preferred to know just what were getting for our buck here, I am glad that it has passed and that some action will be taken in this regard.
